Roxas averted his attention from the window to the irritating sound coming from behind him. It had been irritating him ever since five minutes ago.

He was greeted with a startling pair of emerald eyes and a Cheshire grin.

“Hey. I’m Axel.”

It took a few moments for the blond to realize that the person behind him wanted to befriend him in some sort of way.

He gave him a nervous smile.

“I’m Roxas.”

The grin widened. “So, you’re that new kid people keep talking about, huh.”

Roxas glanced at the teacher. She looked busy.

“I guess… I don’t really know.”

The blond turned back to face the board again. The teacher was giving him a warm smile, fixing the papers on her desk.

“All right, today, we’ll be taking up Literary Genres…”

She turned her back on the class, scribbled on the board, and started discussing the topic.

The period wore on with talk of different genres, students being asked to give examples on some. Zexion had given quite a few, and had earned some glaring pairs of eyes as he did so. It wasn’t his fault that he knew the library inside and out. ‘They just need to take a look at the library,’ He thought. ‘Read a book or three.’

He recalled first

The day couldn’t have started any worse for Roxas Hawthorne when he realized that he had slept in.

Cobalt eyes that were leaden with sleep suddenly became alert as the alarm clock came into their line of vision.

“Oh shit!”

He grabbed the small black box roughly, his eyes on the tiny digital screen that read 7:55 am. Tossing it aside, he ran towards the bathroom only to run into the door. Shaking his head, he went inside the bathroom and took off his nightclothes.

He was greeted with the coldest shower in history. Gritting his teeth, he washed up quickly and toweled himself dry.

Damp and still cold, he put on the standard Twilight High uniform; A white button up t-shirt, blue plaid pants, and a blue plaid tie to go with it.

The buttons were mismatched, his tie askew.

The blond rushed out of the apartment, but then suddenly remembered his bag and keys. With that, he ran back up to his room, grabbed the two items, locked the door, and sped off towards the school.

Luck was not on his side today.

“And can anyone tell me what was it that Magellan found in his travels?”

The teacher looked at the class expectantly.

“Anyone?”

And as if on cue, the spiky haired blond burst in the classroom, dirty, disheveled, and out of breath.

“Ah, Mr. Hawthorne. Nice of you to join us.” The bespectacled teacher remarked, eyeing his clothes.

Roxas was rooted to the spot by the many pairs of eyes of his classmates, still huffing lightly.

“Well, see what we have here,” The teacher turned to the class. “It looks as if Mr. Hawthorne has been on one of Magellan’s adventures.”

A few chuckles escaped some several students at the comment.

“Tell me, did Magellan get to conquer that Philippines, as he had planned? Or was he defeated by the natives of that land?”

The blond fidgeted; he couldn’t answer.

“Very well, our Spanish conquistador. Take a seat.”

Bowing his head, the blond made his way to his desk where he plopped his bag on the ground and sunk into his chair, wishing the floor would just suddenly open up and swallow him.

First and second period seemed to go by so quickly; he didn’t even realize that the bell had rung until a familiar sight popped into view.

“Roxas!”

A girl with porcelain white skin and pale blond hair came bounding up to him, clutching notebooks and papers to her chest. She seemed pretty happy until she saw how unkempt her friend looked.

Namine frowned. “What happened?”

“I got up late,” Roxas started. “And then I took a freezing shower and ran almost half a mile only to be late and be called a Spaniard.”

“Better late than never, right?” She giggled. “Why a Spaniard, though?”

“History.” He rolled his eyes.

“Magellan?”

“The guy went half around the world to look for something to put in his food and gets beaten by natives.” He commented dryly.

Her face lit up suddenly. “I have notes, if you wanna borrow.” She offered, rummaging through her papers.

“No, no. It’s okay.” He said chuckling. Namine was just too nice sometimes.

She stopped rummaging through her things and looked back at him questioningly.

“I was sure to take down something when I came in. Don’t worry.” He smiled reassuringly.

“Now come on,” He gripped the strap of his bag. “I need to put this stuff in my locker before break ends.”

As soon as the bell rang, the hallways were suddenly decked with students spurting out from almost every corner, shoving and pushing to get to their lockers and next classes.

“Hey, did you hear? That new blond kid came in really late for Mr. Damascos’s class! —”

“— Yeah! I was there! He was totally embarassed — “

“— Hey, are you going to Seifer’s on Friday? —”

” — He hangs out with Namine, do you think they’re together?”

‘The hallway seems to be full of atrocious gossip today,’ mused Zexion.

He was the only volunteer student librarian of the school. Due to that title, and the fact that his bangs seemed to fall over his left eye, he was constantly picked on by the jocks and the other popular kids; called names like ‘emo kid’, ‘bookworm’, and ‘freak-tard’; beaten up and embarrassed almost every day. It’s happened to him ever since he was in middle school.

Passing by some scantily clad seniors, he sighed. ‘Then again, it always is.’

” — Totally going. But I don’t know what to wear —”

” — He’s such a hunk! I bet Larxene’d be so jealous if she’d find out —”

” — Well, I think they look absolutely adorable together, —”

” — And like, he totally asked me out —”

” — Seifer says he’s gonna dish out the booze at his place on Friday —”

‘A gathering at Seifer’s, the basketball captain’s girlfriend, beer at the party,’ The bluenette shook his head. ‘And gossip about the new student. As suspected. Trivial things.’

Gossip never interested Zexion, nonetheless he couldn’t help but listen to them as he weaved his way through the throng of students clustered about in the hall.

“Where do you think you’re going, punk?”

Zexion stopped abruptly, his periwinkle eyes meeting with those of Seifer Maxwell.

He was the pride of Twilight High; the quarterback that saves the school’s name from embarrassment every football game. Not very intelligent, and not at all a gentleman either.

“What do you want, Maxwell?”

Seifer mocked him in a high pitched voice. “What do you want, Maxwell?”

The bluenette rolled his eyes. Seifer’s friends sniggered behind him.

“If this is about your term paper, I’ve already finished it and sent it to you.” He sighed disappointingly. “You said you’d have nothing to do with me after that.”

“Did I?” The junior asked ‘innocently’.

Zexion narrowed his eyes. “Yes, you did.”

“Well, I’ll tell you what,” Seifer grinned. “I’m planning to enter a little contest and you’re going to make sure I win.”

The bluenette opened his mouth in protest, but Seifer continued.

“And maybe then I’ll consider not beating you up. How does that sound?”

Again, Zexion opened his mouth in protest but closed it again, dropping his head in defeat.

At that, Seifer smirked triumphantly.

“That’s more like it, Crescent.”

And as if on cue, the bell rang.

The classroom was still noisy and teacherless when Zexion came in. He crept quietly to his seat, hoping to go unnoticed when he sank into his chair.

” —Yeah, that blond kid with the spiky hair —”

” — I heard he lives alone, —”

” — Hey, did you do your homework on literary genres? —”

The teacher came in. ”Alright guys, back to your seats!” She had to holler over the noise and chatter before everyone slipped back to their proper places.

“So, today, we’ve got someone new joining our class! He shifted from another subject and he’ll be staying here from now on, so I expect you all to be friendly with him. Roxas, come in.”

And as soon as the blond came in, murmurs flitted through the room.

The teacher sighed, shaking her head.

“You can take a seat there, Roxas.” She pointed, indicating the empty seat next to the bluenette.

When the blond took his seat, Zexion passed a furtive glance at him before rummaging through his folder for his homework.

‘So, this is the new kid.’ The bluenette thought, dull blue eyes scanning through papers. ‘He doesn’t look too interesting.’ He continued flipping through until he found a paper in his handwriting. Pulling it out, he cast another glance at Roxas.

Roxas had the seat next to the window and was currently looking out. ‘Is he thinking, perhaps?’ Zexion smirked at his own joke, scanning the paper to check if he had everything in order.

His smirk faltered when he heard a ‘psst’.

Confused and thinking that it would have looked awkward if he had looked around the whole class, his eyes cautiously wandered to where Roxas was and then the realization had suddenly hit him.

The blonde was sitting right in front of Axel Redshaw. The red-head that was notorious for failing. He was held back almost two years, Zexion had heard. And apparently, he also had a reputation at the local pub.

Zexion shuddered. Just the thought of someone failing irked him. He never understood why, it just did.

The red head was currently trying to get the blond’s attention by making the annoying sound, but Roxas just wouldn’t heed it. ‘Or does Roxas not find it amusing?’ Zexion mused.

He turned back to his paper. Ms. Sanchez was collecting the homeworks. Axel stopped. The room was still full of soft chatter.

Stealing another glance in Roxas’ direction had told him enough that he didn’t want the blond making friends with a bad influence.

Ms. Sanchez started discussing their homework which served as the lesson. Axel started the annoying sound again.

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted Roxas turning in his seat and the red head grinning ear to ear. The bluenette narrowed his eyes in distaste. ‘Roxas shouldn’t make friends with this guy.’ The bluenette thought.

‘But what if he did? What then?’ He paused. ‘…And I care, why?’

Zexion shifted his gaze back to the board. There were notes to be copied. Pulling out his pen and notebook, he started jotting them down, letting all thoughts of Roxas drift away.

THE KH SURVEY

SECTION ONE: The “Favorite” Questions

1. Your favorite KH guy?

I have two. Don’t you dare make me choose between them.

AXEL AND SORA. I LOVE THEM. (Everyone knows that, of course) And then Z. But those two are my faviest faves of all time. I love both of their characters so much. I enjoy writing them and using them in CR, and I feel like I have a pretty decent understanding of both of them. At least of the versions of them that live in my head.

Aaaand… I could go on forever about them. But I’ll spare you.

2. Your favorite KH girl?

Hm. That’s a good question… Probably Larxene. I love Kairi, Namine, and Olette, too, but yeah. The four of them are like, the ONLY girls that are purely KH characters, so I figured I should just say one of them. :D

She’s wonderfully nasty, hysterically fun to write, and generally wonderful. She’s kickass, too. The only girl in the Orgy!! (Well, she’s more of a man than Axel… but you know what I mean.) She’ll beat the shit out of you, man. And she’ll smile at you the whole time. And that’s great.

Namine’s right after her. She’s an artist, man. And she’s adorable. <333

3. Your least favorite KH guy? Why?

Weeeeeeell I guess one could say Riku, but I don’t really dislike him THAT much. He’s just SO easy to make fun of, that’s all. SO EASY.

I don’t really have anyone I really really really dislike, but well… Actually, scratch that. My answer is RAI. Y’KNOW?! SDIHGHSNSKGNSDGN AUGH I COULD KILL HIM.

…And then maybe Vexen. He’s just as annoying. HAHA.

WAIT. AND THEN THERE WAS ANSEM. YEAH, THAT BITCH. I GREATLY DISLIKE HIM. JUST FOR EVERYTHING. FOR WHAT HE DID TO ROXAS, RIKU, NAMINE, HIS APPRENTICES, YOU NAME IT. EVERYONE. HE’S SUCH A POO. I’M GLAD HE LIKE, DIED.

4. Your least favorite KH girl? Why?

Hnnnrrrsfghsh… I don’t really have a least favorite. I’m not really happy with Kairi’s characterization, though. I feel like the plot more focused on her just being a friend to Sora and a princess of the heart. I think it would’ve been nice if we could’ve gotten more of her feelings and thoughts, and seen more of her. But hey, I guess that’s just the way things are. The main character’s love interest isn’t generally payed attention to in this sort of thing.

I think that she’s sweet though, and I don’t think she’s a mary sue or anything, so she’s not my least favorite. Certainly not.

5. Favorite World? (Includes both KH1 and KH2)

OH GOD. I DON’T KNOW, MAN. I DON’T KNOWWW…

Well, maybe one of the ones where you transform… Actually, I really liked Atlantica in the first game. But that’s just me and my underwater fetish. It was nice, though. And there was a shirtless Sora. Which totally makes it own like, 100 times more than it already does. It’s wonderful in the second game, too. Ridiculously unhealthy, but wonderful.

After that, I’d say Neverland in KHI, Hollow Bastion in KHII, The World That Never Was in KHII (including the Orgy’s castle, of course), Twilight Town in KHII, Wonderland in KHI, and Traverse Town in KHI. Not in any particular order. C:

6. Least Favorite World?

TRON’S FUCKING COMPUTER HELLHOLE. I HATED THAT GODDAMN PLACE. DON’T EVEN TALK TO ME ABOUT IT. BLOODY THING, TAINTING HOLLOW BASTION!! I’LL KILL IT!! SDBGSDGNSDNGHSG—

7. Favorite Weapon? (Includes both KH1 and KH2)

Axel’s chakrams, of course, in KHII. Then the two keyblades that were Leon-based, Oathkeeper, and the Axel Keyblade. That last one was probably my ultimate fave. 8D

8. Least Favorite Weapon?

Eh, magic & summons. Never really used either. I use Cure, and in the first game, I used Aero, (or whatever it is) which saved my ass a million times. And I like, NEVER use summons. I don’t think I even got all of them in KHII, lol.

OH, AND THE TRON WORLD KEYBLADE. JUST BECAUSE IT WAS ANNOYING AND IT REMINDED ME OF THAT WORLD. D:<

9. Fav. Summon? (includes both KH1 and KH2)

Please see above, lol. I don’t even know what they all do. I do vaguely remember practicing with the Genie from Aladdin in KHI and liking what he did, though I don’t remember what it was…

10. Fav. Form? (aka. Sora’s Forms)

Valor, since I was too lazy to use any other forms. P:

It worked just fine for me, anyway. I liked it. It saved my ass in the same way Aero did.

11. Favorite Pairing? (includes yaoi coupling) Why?

OH DAMN YOU FOR ASKING THIS.

AkuRoku & RoSo. (Then Zemyx and RikuSora and Cleon)

AkuRoku because of the goddamn GAMES. Their relationship, their characters, the fact that they’re a millimeter away from being canon. The two of them are just something new. They have a relationship very different from any other I’ve ever seen, and it’s just so AMAZING. So tragic. So lovely. And they really do care for one another. I just can’t describe how amazing it is and how much I like it.

RoSo because one day, Roxas just… Well, CR. It all started there. And the next thing I knew, here I am. And I love it. They have tragedy, too. And it makes me want to make them happy. There’s the element of the Nobody & Somebody mess, and their personalities. They could never really be together canonically, since… well, obviously not. But I just love them. In all senses of the words, they complete one another. 

12. Least Fav. Pairing? (includes yaoi couples) Why?

Hm. I don’t really have one… Except… Well, I dunno. I’m just not a fan of Sora and Kairi. I can only see them as friends, really. They just give me that feeling. The feeling, you know, that they love one another, but they never will in THAT way. They’re hardcore BFFs. At least in my mind.

13. Any cool crack pairings you’ve heard of? List ‘em.

CLOUD AND LEON? IS THAT CRACK? I’LL KILL YOU—

Well, there’s that, which could be considered crack, I suppose, but they HAVE actually talked to one another, and have also randomly shown up together. Looking suspicious. Like really, WHAT WERE THEY DOING TOGETHER? You know the scene I’m talking about. But I’ll ship that pairing to hell and back. Fuck yes.

Zemyx… Well, that could be considered crack too, I guess. And maybe RoSo? Or maybe I’ve just lost my ability to tell what’s crack and what’s not.

I DO GREATLY ENJOY THE IDEA OF LEON AND RIKU TOGETHER, HOWEVER. AND LEON AND SORA, TOO. OH YES INDEED.

14. Weirdest Pairing(s) You’ve Ever Heard Of?

15. Any “Kh-pet-peeves” you have?

Hmmmmmmmrrrrhsdgsgdg I dunnooooo, man… Can’t really think of anything… Except for maybe the fact that it’s so bloody TRAGIC. THE ENTIRE GODDAMN STORY MAKES ME CRY. EVERYTHING. DSGKDSG. I mean, it’s a fact of life. Yes, Kingdom Hearts is HORRIDLY DEPRESSING, and people probably commit suicide because of it. I can deal with it, and I still love it to death. But it still makes me sad, and it still makes me wish that EVERYONE got a happy ending. 

16. Fav. Partner in KH? (includes both KH1 and KH2)

Partner? Do you mean Party Member? Well, let’s just go with that.

What, that they’re together? Or the whole “we has no hearts and cannot feel nuthin’” thing? BE MORE SPECIFIC.

…I do think they have hot kinky mansex (HAHAHA) under the light of Kingdom Hearts, though. Yes.

As for the no hearts thing, I think that’s a load of poo. At least for some people. Take a goddamn look at Axel and Roxas, please. And how can Saixy grin and be evil and stuff? If he had no heart, he wouldn’t do that. I mean, one could say that they were all acting or whatever, but poop that.

I personally think that while they may start out without hearts, they live and develop and interact and they can grow them. They can develop them on their own. Other things can make them feel. They have to let it happen, though. If they sit around saying they don’t have hearts, they’ll be so stuck lingering on that, they won’t get a chance to get one.

That totally didn’t come out right, lol. I totally didn’t explain my theory properly…. haha… DX

18. Do you believe that Zexion is emo?

NO, BETCH.

Of course he’s fucking not. Just because he’s got a bloody bang in front of one eye and he doesn’t smile as much as Sora doesn’t mean he’s goddamn EMO!! I HATE THAT THEORY/ASSUMPTION/BELIEF. I completely disagree with every single goddamn fiber of my being!! Z is smart, calm, and he does actually talk. He’s smirked/smiled-ish before, too. He doesn’t walk around sulking and cutting himself or whatever it is that emo people do.

If anyone’s emo in KH, it’s RIKU.

19. Do you believe that Marluxia is gay?

HAH. Either he is, or he’s the only straight one in the Orgy. I think he just goes for little kids. Little kids of any gender. Or maybe just anything/anyone that strikes his interest.

20. Do you believe that Kairi is the most annoying character in KH?

Uh, NO. I’m not one of those stupid Kairi haters that are ridiculous. I think she could’ve just had a bit more development. But she’s fine. I like the concept of her character.

If anyone’s the most annoying character in KH, it would be Riku. HAHAHAGNKDSGD.

SECTION THREE: Answer Yourself!

21. If Roxas had to choose either Namine or Olette, who would you root for? Why?

AXEL. SHUT UP, YOU. HE’S AN OPTION—

Either of them, really. I generally like both of them with other people, since I usually pair Roxas with Axel, Sora, or one of a couple other people. Or all of them at the same time. But yeah. Olette has her boys, and then there’s Seifer, so I think I’d probably leave her to them. I adore Namine being paired with Xukir Repliku, but I think she’d be cute with Roxas, too. Not because “They’re Sora and Kairi” but because they just suit one another well enough to be a cute pair. And they’d both be so sweet to one another… it’d be adorable.

22. What’s your theory on KH: Birth by Sleep?

Jeebis. Don’t ask me this, man. I’ve got so many. I’m too lazy to put them all together. Basically though, I’m happy to wait until it comes out/we get more spoilers. I don’t really like forming theories on that sort of thing. I’m going to wait to see what happens.

23. Was Chain of Memories a waste of time?

No. Of course not. 

24. If you had the choice of meeting ONE (and ONLY ONE!) KH character, who would it be?

OH, FUCK. Shit. Damn…

Well, Sora or Axel, obviously. Partially because they’re my favorites, and also partially because of THEM. Which in turn, is because they’re my favorites. But lets stop being confusing…

*deep breath* Well, I think I’ll have to go with Axel on this one. Even though he’s dead blah blah blah poo poo, I adore his character. I’d love to talk to him and actually SEE his expressions. I’d love to hear his voice, too. If I could, I’d like to sit and talk with him about his feelings on everything and what he’s seen and why he did what he did. I’d like to hear him talk about Roxas, and maybe I’d ask Axel if he loved him.

Aside from that, though, I’d then steal him and have him come live with me. He could sleep in my bed, if he wanted. :D

25. Which KH character do you relate to the most? Why?

…Augh. Well, honestly, Axel. I feel like I understand him pretty well. I… Well, yeah. I dunno.

26. What’s the most embarrassing moment that ever happened to you that had something to do with KH?

Um… Can’t think of anything, lol. I can think of embarrassing things that have happened to my FRIENDS, but… HAHA.

27. Have you ever cosplayed as a KH character? If so, who? If not, who would you like to cosplay as?

Not YET. I’m putting together a Zexion cosplay, though. I don’t know if I can do it, but I’m totally gonna try. I just took my measurements for the cloak I’m ordering just a second ago, actually. :D

Someday, I hope to cosplay Axel… It’s my dream… I’M TOO SHORT THOUGH, LOLSDGBSKHD. I’d have to wear heels, or some of those crazy boots. OR WHATEVER. HAHA.

28. The Funniest Moment in all of KH would be…?

Either

1. In KHII, when Riku WHIPS off his cloak and is SUDDENLY wearing his clothes underneath it. The entire scene was just so ridiculous and preposterous, I couldn’t stop laughing for eons.
2. In KHII when Saixy said, “If I had a heart, this would be where I die of laughter.” THAT SLAYED ME. IT WAS GREAT.
3. In KHII (YEAH AGAIN LOL) when BELLE ELBOWED XALDIN. HE GRUNTED AND WINCED AND CLUTCHED AT HIS RIBS AND SHE RAN OFF AND IT WAS THE BEST. MAYBE THAT ONE WINS, LOL.

29. The Hardest Enemy/Boss was…?

DAMN YOU, XALDIN. DAMN YOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUU!!!

…Or Demyx. The second time. BLOODY HELL, MAN. BLOODY HELL.

30. What was a good edition in KH2 that made it oh-so-addictive?

Uh, yeah, EVERYTHING. Characters, mainly, but also the music and the worlds and the concept and the designs and the plot and SOHGSLGDNDSLG. IT WAS JUST SO AMAZING ENTIRELY AND OMG DUDE.

The plot, baby. The sadness, the happiness, the excitement and drama. The idea of having all of these Final Fantasy characters together, then some Disney characters, AND THEN A WHOLE HOST OF NEW CHARACTERS. The villains and their plan that DOESN’T ACTUALLY INVOLVE WOLRD DOMINATION. The concept of HEART, which turned out to be so interesting. EVERYTHINGGGGG!!!

Augh, I’ll always hate this question. But yes… As much as I LOVE LOVE LOVE Roxybear, I think I have to go with Sora. Since he’s like, 1/2 my favorite character (lol).

Ekfdjgndfkng… Larxene. I’m sorry, Kairi. But. “*molests Axel’s face*” VS. “You’re not acting very friendly!!”… Option one wins, there.

37. AkuRoku or SoRiku?

Axel and Roxas. Sorry, but RoSo has crushed RikuSora in my mind. Even though it’s like, my second favorite, RoSo and AkuRoku hold the spot of first together, and are thus above it.

38. Namixas or Namiku?

NAMINE AND XUKIR. If you mean Repliku, I mean. Of course. But if you mean Namine and RIKU… Well, then it’s Namine and Roxas. Yesiree.

39. Zemyx or AkuRoku?

As much as I love my Zemyx, I think the super couple wins this one, too.

40. SoKai or SoRiku?

• Sora looks 8,000 times better in it than he did in the first one.
• There’s ROXY in the second one!!!
• There’s THE ORGY!!!
• It’s fancier and prettier in general.
• The plot is more confusing and tragic and dramatic and wonderful.

50. LAST QUESTION! What makes Kingdom Hearts one of the best games in the world!?

It takes two amazing things, and puts them together in a way nothing else has. Disney & Nomura-sensei. Disney and SQUARE ENIX. That is some hardfuckingcore awesome, there.

It’s completely unique, the characters are amazing and really quite well-developed, it has an interesting plot with all sorts of twists and turns and surprises, and it was put together so well and with so much care and love. You just can’t help but at least RESPECT it. It’s an ingenious game. I’ll always love it.

Omg, does that resemble a background?

I would like to thank Bambi for serving as reference. Without him, Zexy would look like a horse or a cow or something, for I lack animal-drawing skills XD

And I probably should’ve used reference for Pencie’s funky pose I got frustrated since I couldn’t find one that fits, so i improvised… But aside from the arms I think it turned out quite alright though
